I sometimes take a break from oils and canvas in favor of art markers and colored pencils. These are some of my latest creations.
The images below are from a series of drawings done for the Brooklyn Art Library's Sketchbook Project, an ongoing public collaboration of creative people around the world. This particular sketchbook is now in the Library's permanent collection and still goes on tour with thousands of other sketchbooks around the country in public exhibitions. The images were inspired by the tragedy of the Gulf Coast Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Each of the birds illustrated represent a species on the brink of extinction, due to human negligence and habitat loss.
